Mountains 02/03

I drove back from the grocery store and saw the Cascades in the distance, with a sharp snowline, and I knew I had to drive and take pictures. This was the first time, other than Christmas, that I was using my digital camera.

Driving up to the Cascades along I90; the trees are bare down here.	I love my car. Look, I'm going the speed limit!	First sight in the distance of the snow that I saw from Bellevue.

Nice, but we're still in the lower mountains.	This is the snowline that I saw from my house.	I love driving in Washington.

Further up, the snow covers more of the mountains.	A completely different view along the road this far up.	Solid snow.

Now the trees along the road are covered with snow too.	I used Apple's iPhoto to print this as a 16x20 print and it's now hanging in my office.	Past the crest and Snoqualmie exits, there's a cleared field.

The sun was getting lower by this point.	The lake a bit further down the road.	I pulled off one of the FS roads and found this standing water several miles from the road.

The water was perfectly clear and reflective.	More of the marsh.	This was almost as fun as the mountains.

This is my second-favorite shot, and a large poster is on its way to me.	Further along that road, the trees opened up again and I could see the mountains.	The sun was beginning to set.

Trees and clouds. Pretty.	Headed home.
